SHIMLA: Himachal Power Engineers Association (HPEA) has sent a letter to Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh  Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu demanding that a uniform old pension system be implemented for all power employees & engineers working in HPSEB.

President of Himachal Power Engineers’ Association (HPEA), Lokesh Thakur has written in a letter sent to the Chief Minister employees and engineers recruited in the newly formed energy corporations was abolished unilaterally. Moreover the personnel recruited after unbundling were transferred to NPS in different provinces. It has been written in the letter that there is no mention anywhere in the Electricity Act 2003 that the old pension will not be given to the Power employees recruited after the unbundling of the Electricity Board. There is no uniformity in the different departments of the states. At some places OPS is applicable, at some places NPS Is applicable.

It is further written in the letter that recently the Governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand have implemented the old pension system for all the employees and engineers working in energy corporations.

The letter said that it is learnt that the Central Government is going to make changes in the pension system for the central employees working under NPS. In such a situation, a uniform system is not implemented among the employees working in the state, big discrepancies will arise.

In the letter sent to the Chief Minister, it has been written that in order to bring uniformity in all the departments of the state. It is necessary that the State Government should issue instructions to HPSEBL that for the power employees & engineers working in the HPSEB, the same old pension system should be implemented.
