SHIMLA: The elections of the State Association of Medical and Dental College Teachers (SAMDCOT) were conducted successfully and in a congenial atmosphere in Room No. 601. The polling process was smooth, transparent, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from members across medical and dental colleges of the state.
The following office bearers were elected unanimously: • President: Dr. Balbir Verma, Professor & Head, Department of Medicine • Vice President: Dr. Punit Mahajan, Professor & Head, Department of Surgery • General Secretary: Dr. Piyush Kapila, Professor, Department of Forensic Medicine • Treasurer: Dr. Yogesh Diwan, Associate Professor, Department of Anatomy • Social Secretary: Dr. Manish Gupta, Professor & Head, Cancer Hospital, Shimla
For the post of Joint Secretary, a contest took place between Dr. Jagdeep Thakur (Professor, ENT) and Dr. Sandeep Rathore (Assistant Professor, Obstetrics & Gynaecology). After a close and fair contest, Dr. Jagdeep Thakur was declared elected, and Dr. Sandeep Rathore graciously congratulated him.
The following members were elected as Executive Members: Dr. Usha (Assistant Professor, Anaesthesia), Dr. Nishi Sood (Associate Professor, Obstetrics & Gynaecology), Dr. Digvijay Thakur (Assistant Professor, Neurosurgery), Dr. Divya Vashishth (Assistant Professor, Dental College), Dr. Ashish Chauhan (Assistant Professor, Gastroenterology), Dr. Mukesh Surya (Associate Professor, Radiology).
Dr. Dara Singh Negi, Professor, Department of Anaesthesia and Returning Officer, thanked Dr. Suresh Thakur (Professor, Radiology) and Dr. Dinesh Sharma (Professor, Psychiatry) for their support in ensuring that the elections were conducted in a fair, transparent, and cordial manner. He also expressed gratitude to all SAMDCOT members for their cooperation. He congratulated the newly elected Executive Council for securing the mandate for the third consecutive term.
Dr. Balbir Verma, President SAMDCOT, thanked all members for reposing their confidence in him and his team. He assured that the Executive Council would work diligently to uphold the responsibilities entrusted to them. He emphasized that time-bound promotions and NPA for newly appointed faculty members would remain his top priority moving forward.
