IPR awareness seminar held to celebrate “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”

 Solan: Intellectual Property Cell of Shoolini University organised a webinar on IPR awareness in collaboration with Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, Government of India, Ministry of Commerce and Industry on Monday.

Speaker of the session, Dr. Usha Rao, Assistant Controller of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, talked about the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” to celebrate 75th year of India’s Independence. Under Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, National Intellectual Property Awareness Mission (NIPAM) has decided to create awareness among 10 lakh students on IPR to further strengthen the IPR regimen of our country and boost the “Creative India, Innovative India” objective of the National IPR policy.

Dr. Rao gave a very insightful presentation about the different types of IPR, procedure to protect the IPR, and cost of filing patents, and how to search for the novelty. Dr. Usha also applauded the efforts of Shoolini University to file huge number of patents and securing 3rd position in India for filing patent applications. For making the session interactive, Dr. Rao asked question during the lecture and at the end, a quiz was organised about the various aspects of IPR in which students and faculty members actively participated. The session was attended by approximately 150 students and faculty members.

The opening remarks were made by Prof. Kamal Dev, Coordinator of Intellectual Property Rights Cell and Professor of Biotechnology. He greeted all the participants and speaker of the session, Dr. Usha Rao. He also apprised the participants about the IPR initiative at Shoolini University and filing of 837 patents by students and faculty members.

The concluding remarks of the session were given by Mr. Himanshu Sharma, Legal analyst at IPR cell of Shoolini University.
