Mandi :<\/strong> 3rd HPSC jointly organised by HIMCOSTE Shimla and IIT Mandi on the theme\u201d Rural upliftment through science and Technology Interventions\u201d concluded yesterday at IIT Mandi. Anil Sharma, MPP Power Minister was the Chief Guest of valedictory function. The MLA from Drang constituency Jawahar Thakur was the guest of Honour on the occasion. The programme was started with address by Prof. T.A Gonsalves he started with the review of IIT Mandi and followed by welcome address by Kunal Satyarthi, Member Secretary, HIMCOSTE Shimla. The Minister emphasized on how we can improve villagers life and make them feel happy in villages by science and technology. He urged the students to work for the betterment of rural people through innovation and foresight.<\/p>\n

Around 700 scientists, scholars and\u00a0 students participated in the 3rd HPSC 2018. Almost 300 oral and poster presentations were made in seven themes of the congress.\u00a0 The added attracttion of the congress were 34 exhibition stalls put up by various universities, institutions and\u00a0 Non Govt\u00a0 Organizations in Himachal Pradesh. 14 participants was awarded for\u00a0 best Oral and Best poster presentation in each theme.<\/p>\n

Panel discussion on how industry and academia can help in rural upliftment by undertaking various initiatives were also held in which leading members from industry in HP, scientist from DST, Dr. S K Chakrabarti, Director,CPRI Shimla, Prof HS Dhaliwal, Prof KS Verma, Prof AS Guleria and Kunal Satyarthi put forward their views.<\/p>\n
