SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh State Council for Science, Technology and Environment(HIMCOSTE), Shimla is organizing “2nd Himachal Pradesh Science Congress” on November 20-21,2017 at Hotel Peterhoff, Shimla. The theme of the Congress is “Science and Technology for Sustainable Livelihood in Indian Himalayan Region”. About 500 delegates are expected to participate in the two days event. The thrust areas of H.P. Science Congress 2017-18 includes Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Environment Sciences & Forestry, Botany, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology among other specific subject areas.
Dr.V.K. Saraswat, Padma Bhushan & Padma Shri would be the Chief Guest in Inaugural function whereas Justice Sanjay Karol, Hon’ble Chief Justice Himachal Pradesh High Court would be the Chief Guest in Valedictory function. Dr. G.S.Goraya,IFS,Pr. Chief Conservator of Forests(HOFF) and Sh.Somesh Goyal, IPS Director General of Police, Himachal Pradesh would be the Guest of Honour in the Inaugural session. Plenary lectures would be delivered by Dr.Manoj Pateiriya, Director, NISCAIR-CSIR, New Delhi, Dr. Krishan Lal, Former Director, National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi and Prof. Rup Lal, Department of Zoology, Delhi University. Welcome address and briefing about the congress would be delivered by Sh. Kunal Satyarthi, IFS, Joint Member Secretary (HIMCOSTE) Shimla.
About 400 abstracts on themes Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences, Environment Sciences & Forestry, Botany, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Biotechnology among other specific subject areas
have been received from the participants from more than 100 Institutions/Universities/Research Laboratories across the Country. This Congress would go a long way in devising need based scientific interventions for the betterment of hill society. The scientists, technocrats and all other stakeholders would deliberate upon the relevant issues in various thematic areas and would come out with fruitful recommendations.
There would be Prize Distribution Function during the Valedictory session and the best research papers in oral category and poster categories would be awarded.
This congress provides an opportunity to all the researchers within Himachal Pradesh to showcase their contribution and could help them interact with recognized subject area experts, academicians and policy makers.
The main attraction of this congress is an EXHIBITION in the form of Science Fair. Around 31 stalls have been allotted to various agencies of Himachal Pradesh and across the Country.
