State Council for Science, Technology & Environment, HP organizied a one day workshop

Shimla: The Intellectual Property facilitation centre for Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs) of State Council for Science, Technology & Environment, HP organizied a one day workshop on Intellectual Property Rights for  Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs) for the handicraft/ handloom Cluster at Dev Sadan, Kullu on 22nd October, 2016. About 160 participants (Kullu Shawl Weavers/ Traders/ MSME entrepreneurs) attended the workshop. Besides, resource persons from patent office, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, GoI, New Delhi shared their experiences with the participants of the Workshop.

Himachal Pradesh Patent Information Centre has been established in the State Council in October, 1998 by Patent Facilitation Centre, Technology Information, Forecasting & Assessment Council (TIFAC), Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. The main objective of the Centre is to create awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and facilitate filing of patents from Scientists, Inventors working in State R&D Institutions. The Centre is providing patent search and filing facilities to the scientists, innovators, researchers, R & D institutions. The Centre is disseminating awareness on Intellectual Property Rights by organizing workshops and seminars. The State Council already has registered six GIs i.e. Kullu Shawls, Kangra Tea, Chamba Rumal, Kinnauri Shawls, Kangra Painting and Kullu Shawls Logo with the Registrar GI Chennai Office. Besides, the centre has been declared as the nodal agency for filing of Geographical Indications in HP.

Hon’ble Minister (Ayurveda) Sh. Karan Singh, Govt. of HP was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Sh. Satya Prakash Thakur, Chairman Bhuttico was the special guest on this occasion. He briefed about the miserable conditions of workers of handloom/handicraft industry and suggested for its improvement and both detailed about the importance of Kullu shawls. Sh. Kunal Satyarthi, Joint Member Secretary, State Council for Science, Technology & Environment welcomed the Hon’ble Minister( Ayurveda), Sh. Satya Prakash Thakur, Resource persons from Govt. of India and the participants.  Dr. Aparna Sharma, Sr. Scientific Officer, SCSTE, gave vote of thanks. During technical session, Sh. Vijay Singh, Patent Office, New Delhi(GoI), Sh. Rahul Taneja from Haryana State Council for Science Technology and Sh. Umesh Sharma(Patenet Attoney Chandigarh) SHARED THEIR EXPERINCES WITH PARTICIPANTS.
